Presenting the Sapphyre Strings - a diverse group of highly motivated young violin students in age from 5 to 17. The outstanding performances presented by the Sapphyre Strings are rapidly gaining acclaim in the Chicago area.

In addition to an ever-growing schedule of regional appearances, the Naperville-based group has also started traveling abroad. During 2003 they traveled to Germany for performances in Munster and Berlin. Their 2007 schedule included performances in Rome, Florence and Viterbo, Italy.

The Sapphyre Strings repertoire draws mainly from classical music, but also includes music from other genres. Besides public appearances, the group performs at benefit concerts, corporate events, holiday festivities, weddings, birthdays and other private functions.

The students in Sapphyre Strings study with Sue Adelaide Jacula either privately in Naperville or at the renowned Betty Haag Academy of Music.

Sue Jacula, musical director of Sapphyre Strings, trained with Betty Haag to achieve certification as a Suzuki Instructor. She taught in Berlin, Germany for over 20 years, privately as well as at the Musikschule Berlin-Wilmersdorf. During this time she performed with the Brandenburg Chamber Orchestra and the Billroth String Quartet. She has been a guest clinician in Germany, France, Italy and Switzerland. Since relocating to Naperville, IL in 1999, she has been teaching students in the Chicago area. Her goal is to carry on the legacy of her mentor, Betty Haag.
